Polycount Riot contest entry.
Update: Added a gif and its two images at the bottom showing before and after quick tweaks based on some critiques.
Without altering the texture much I shifted some of the hues and saturation to help differentiate parts of the body. The bigger changes were adding more specular dots to some areas to catch the eye, adding scales to the arm to visually separate it from the torso, and making the silhouette of the shoulder spines better.
